Beach body recipes

29 Sep 2011

At last! Warmer weather – yay. Removal of kind winter clothing layer – scary.

So the yearly scramble to lose those wintry pie-layers is on. I shall not eat any more choccies or carbs at night and promise to only scoff wine on the weekends (well, I am ever hopeful).

I have re-visited the gym and beheld that every other human has the same rash idea as me… I couldn’t move there was so much sweating and alarming over-exercising happening.

So here it is. The quest for the beach body, and it begins… now!

Your body is your home and it’s time for a good spring cleaning. If you eat fresh, healthy, colourful food that’s low in fat, your body will thank you and you’ll lose that muffin-top whilst you’re at it. Throw in some exercise and you’ll be ready for those skinny jeans in a low calorie jiffy.

Start by cutting down on your coffee intake and drinking a cleansing ginger tea. A few cups a day will hydrate and detoxify your body and it’s great for your skin and hair. Smoothies are also a fabulously healthy breakfast or mid-morning snack.

Swap greasy take-outs and toasties for lunch to crispy salads with low GI bread and don’t forget about your healthy grains and pulses. Dishes like this fantastic herby rice salad or these simple spiced chickpea wraps are delicious and keep the hunger pangs at bay.

Awesome in-betweener snacks don’t have to be dull, try a handful of beautiful strawberries and almonds or some hummus on rye toast. These low GI fruit and nut bars  are really groovy and these spiced pumpkin seeds are lovely to nibble on.

Curb your carbs at dinner time and stick to low fat proteins and freshly prepared veggies. This does NOT mean boiled bitchy chicken breasts, oh no. I am talking about fresh grilled hake with garlic and chilli and this yellowtail with olive and herb sauce

Try this lovely mustard and herb chicken or this Oriental chicken for some interesting and healthy chicken dishes.

So you see, it’s easy and fantastically yummy to eat well and get the bod you want for the hot summer season.

Lots of low fat love,
