The perfect snack pairings for your next TV marathon
The cooler weather has us firmly in front of the TV. And joining us is one of our favourite guilty pleasures, Cheaters! Season seven contains even more drama and heartache. Take Ben, for example. He seems like an honest guy who’s just looking for love. He thinks he’s found The One, but we know that true love is next to impossible to find on Cheaters. But we’re here for you, Ben, with snacks in hand. And we decided our snacks should fit the theme, so here you have it: the perfect pairings to munch while you watch imperfect couples break up on Cheaters.
We say “caramel”, you say: popcorn
Anyone who grew up with sticky caramel popcorn as a treat will know that salty popcorn really comes into its own when it’s paired with contrasting sweet caramel.
RECIPES TO TRY: Our favourite treats that bring these two flavours together are caramel-popcorn ice-cream sundaes, spicy salted caramel popcorn, caramel popcorn with coffee salt and, when we’re feeling extra indulgent, this coffee cake with caramel popcorn.
We say “nachos”, you say: dip
We love nacho chips layered with cheese, spicy beans/mince and salsa, but when we’re short on time, the next best thing is using those nachos to scoop up dip-dips.
We say “chicken wings”, you say: potato wedges
Sticky chicken wings are the ultimate eat-with-your-hands food. Pair them with spicy potato wedges and you basically have a complete meal. (You could throw in some salad for balance, but that would require bringing out the knives and forks.)
