Giant boerie roll with four-bean salad

Use ciabatta instead of hot-dog buns for this giant boerie roll that can feed a family of four. The four-bean salad adds bulk to keep hunger pangs at bay.

Ingredients (12)

500 g boerewors
1 loaf ciabatta
4 x canned four-bean mix
125 ml tomato sauce
45 ml chutney
80 ml sweet chilli sauce
45 ml wholegrain mustard
10 ml Worcestershire sauce
1 onion — finely chopped
1 green pepper — diced
6 cherry tomatoes — roughly chopped
salad leaves — to serve

Put the boerewors in a hinged braai grid and braai over medium coals until browned but still juicy.

Lightly toast the bread over the coals.

Four-bean salad: Mix all the ingredients together (except the boerewors, ciabatta and salad).

To serve: Cut a slit in the bread. Put the salad leaves inside (if using), add a little of the bean salad, then the sausage, and finish with more bean salad. Serve with the rest of the four-bean salad on the side.
