A classic Hake burger served on a soft seeded bun with homemade dill tartar sauce and crunchy fries.

Ingredients (15)

Fish and chips
1 x 400 g box Sea Harvest Hake Burgers
1 kg frozen American-style French fries
sea salt
Dill tartar sauce
1/3 cup mayonnaise
1 baby onion — or shallot, peeled & very finely chopped
1 gherkin — finely chopped
1 tbsp capers — finely chopped
1 tbsp fresh dill — finely chopped
juice and zest of 1 lemon
salt and black pepper
To assemble
4 seeded hamburger buns — sliced and buttered on both sides
4 lettuce leaves — washed
2 tomatoes — sliced
2 gherkins — sliced into rounds
1 lemon wedge

Method:

Fish and Chips

Preheat the oven to 220 ºC.

Lay frozen Hake Burgers onto a baking tray. Place into the oven to cook for 25-30 minutes until crunchy. Alternatively, cook in an air fryer for the recommended time.

Bake or air fry the fries for the recommended cooking time; once cooked season with salt.

Dill Tartar Sauce

Add all of the ingredients to a small mixing bowl and stir to combine. Check and adjust seasoning and then set aside until ready to use.

To Assemble

Toast the buttered buns in a dry frying pan over medium-high heat until golden brown.

Spread tartar sauce on both sides of the buns, then top with some lettuce and a Hake burger. Add slices of tomato, slices of gherkin, and a squeeze of lemon juice. Top with the other half of the bun and serve with a side of fries and extra tartar sauce.
