Ingredients (4)

500 ml water
1 tsp salt
360 g maize meal

Bring water and salt to a boil in a pot.

Add maize meal to the pot all at once, then stir using the handle of a wooden spoon, this will help form the rough crumbly texture.

Cover the pot, then cook on low heat until maize meal is cooked – about 25 minutes.

Allow the phuthu to cool completely before serving with Amasi.
