|125 g||butter — softened|
|125 ml||brown sugar|
|200 ml||golden syrup|
|750 ml||flour — sifted|
|5 ml||Robertson's bicarbonate of soda — sifted|
|5 ml||ginger — ground|
|2,5 ml||allspice — ground|
|100 g||chocolate — chips|

Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
1 Put the butter and sugar in a bowl and beat for 5 minutes,scraping down the sides of the bowl, until pale and creamy.
2 Add the golden syrup, flour,bicarbonate of soda, ginger and all-spice and beat until the mixture just comes together to form a smooth dough.
3 Fold in the chocolate chips.
4 Roll the mixture into balls,about 15 ml (1 tbsp) each, and put on a large lightly-greased baking sheet lined with baking paper.
5 Flatten slightly and bake for 8 minutes or until golden.
6 Allow to cool slightly before transferring to wire racks to cool completely
