Originating in India, Turmeric milk also known as haldi doodh in Hindi, has taken the Western world by storm. Not only is this delicious drink comforting and a pick-me-up all in one but it is also known for its medicinal benefits in Indian holistic and natural medicine practices.

Ingredients (7)

1 tbsp honey
5cm piece fresh ginger — grated
2 black peppercorns
1/4 tsp fresh nutmeg — grated
1 tsp ground turmeric
1/4 cup water
3 cup milk

Method:

On a medium heat place honey, peppercorns, ginger, nutmeg and turmeric in a small sauce pan. Allow these to cook in the honey for 3 minutes.

Add in water, allow to simmer for 5 minutes.

Drop heat to low, add in milk, allow to simmer for 10 minutes or until milk is close to boiling .

Remove from the heat, strain with a fine sieve into teacups . Drink while Hot.
