Croque monsieur (fried ham and cheese sandwiches)

Ingredients (7)

4 bread — white slices
2 ham — Swiss, sliced
2 emmental cheese — slices
2 gruyère cheese — sliced
2 eggs — extra-large
butter — unsalted
olive oil — extra virgin

Spread 1 slice of bread with soft butter and the second slice with mustard.

Place 1 slice of ham, 1 slice emmenthaler and 1 slice gruyere cheese on one side and press the sandwich together tightly.

Dip sandwich into beaten egg.

Repeat for second sandwich.

Melt the butter and olive oil in large heavy bottomed pan and fry the sandwiches on each side until golden brown and cheese is melting.

Serve hot.
