Get ready for some serious couch-surfing action! Culinary legend Gordon Ramsay is returning to National Geographic on 8 September – and we’re here for the ride.
Season two of Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted saw the Michelin-starred chef traverse the globe, from Laos to Alaska, New Zealand to South Africa (where he met SA’s own Zola Nene). Now, he’s back, foraging for food and facing even more treacherous conditions, all in the pursuit of culinary excellence.
This season, he braves giant pounding waves for fresh barnacles in Portugal, free-dives for molluscs in Croatia, kayaks in the Smoky Mountains, and joins a group of lobster fisherwomen in Maine. Gordon will explore not only the culinary delights that each region has to offer but will also get to grips with the diverse landscapes and interact with local chefs.
His first adventure will see him in Texas when the series premieres on 8 September. There, in the wilds of the Lone Star State, he herds cattle with the help of a helicopter, hunts venomous rattlesnake, and goes on a night hunt for hogs. This is the United States like you’ve never seen it before! And guiding him through it will be the award-winning chef Justin Yu.
“During these unprecedented times, Uncharted provides an exciting escape to explore the world safely from home, and inspiration to try new flavours and cooking techniques from the food experts I meet along my journey,” says Gordon. “The world is a massive place, full of diversity and history, and we are just starting to dig into the boldest flavours the planet has to offer.”
If you’re ready to take your palate on a flavour-packed adventure, tune into National Geographic, DStv Channel 181, every Wednesday at 9pm from 8 September. And keep an eye on Food24, where we’ll be exploring the history, culture and food of each country he visits.
