  • 500
    ml
    creamy maize meal
  • 330
    ml
    flour, extra to coat
  • 45
    ml
    sugar
  • salt and pepper
  • 10
    ml
    baking powder
  • 4 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 375
    ml
    full cream milk
  • oil for frying
  • 9 chicken sausages

1 Whisk together maize meal,flour, sugar, baking powder, saltand pepper. Stir in eggs and milk.Fill a wide pot with enough oil to submerge the sausages.

2 Meanwhile, pat the sausages dry and roll in flour to coat. Dip 1 sausage into the maize meal batter,turning until completely coated. Let any excess batter drip off. Wipe away any extra batter using your fingers to evenly coat sausage.

3 Gently lower the sausage in to hot oil. Cook corn dogs, turning to cook evenly, until golden brown or for about 5 minutes. Transfer to a paper towel-lined tray. Working in batches of 3, repeat with remainingcorn dogs and batter. Serve with tomatoes and cucumber sticks.
