Ingredients (11)

BATTER
3.00 apples — green, peeled, cored and sliced
45.00 ml butter — room temperature
250.00 ml sugar
3.00 eggs — extra-large
65.00 ml milk
250.00 ml flour — cake
5.00 ml Baking powder
2.00 ml salt
CREAM SYRUP
250.00 ml cream — Nestlé Ideal Evaporated Milk
250.00 ml sugar
5.00 ml vanilla — essence

Method:

Preheat the oven to 180 ºC and grease a deep 30 cm ovenproof dish with butter or spray with non-stick spray. Boil the apples in a little water until soft. Drain and set aside to cool. Cream the butter and sugar until light and creamy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add the milk and beat well. Sift the dry ingredients together and add to the butter mixture. Stir until well blended. Pour batter into prepared dish, top with the apple slices and press them down lightly. Bake for about 30 minutes until golden brown. Meanwhile heat the ingredients for the syrup together over low heat until the sugar has dissolved. Simmer for about 10 minutes. Pour the boiling syrup over the tart as soon as it comes out of the oven. Serve slightly warmed with cream or ice cream.
Makes 1 medium tart.
