Skottel fry-up

    uncooked shell noodles

    onion, sliced
  • 2
    cloves garlic, crushed
  • oil
  • 1
    stalk celery, sliced
  • 2
    leeks, cleaned and sliced
  • 2
    large carrots, scraped and chopped

    leftover meat, cubed
  • 400
    leftover sausage, sliced
  • 400
    chicken stock

    green beans, drained
  • nutmeg
  • salt and black pepper to taste

    cornflour, dissolved in a little water
  • 50
    Cheddar cheese, grated (optional)


Cook the shell noodles in rapidly boiling salted water until soft. Drain and set aside. Sauté the onion and garlic in a little oil until soft. Add the celery, leeks and carrots, stir-frying until glossy. Add the meat the sausage pieces and stir-fry lightly. Add chicken stock (as needed) and green beans. Simmer until heated through and season with a pinch of nutmeg and salt and black pepper to taste. Thicken the sauce with cornflour if necessary. Sprinkle with Cheddar cheese if desired and serve with the noodles. Serves 6-8.
