Pear and apple nut crumble

  • 1 x 385 g can sliced apples. drained
  • 1 x 410 g can halved pears, drained
  • 4 cloves or cardamom pods
  • 50 ml raisins
  • 45 ml brown sugar
  • 100 g butter
  • 250 ml fresh white breadcrumbs
  • 10 ml ground cinnamon
  • 50 g hazelnuts, chopped
  • 60 ml strawberry jam


Put the apples, pears, cloves or cardamom pods and raisins into a saucepan.
Add 50 ml liquid from the fruit cans and bring to the boil.
Reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
While the fruit is simmering, heat the butter in a frying pan.
Add the breadcrumbs and fry until golden and crisp.
Remove from the heat and stir in the cinnamon, nuts and sugar.
Spoon the fruit into a greased ovenproof dish.
Heat the jam to melt it, pour it over the fruit and sprinkle with the breadcrumb mixture.
Bake in a preheated 200 °C oven for 15 minutes.
Serve hot.
