Ingredients (11)

20.00 ml sunflower oil
1.00 kg ostrich mince
1.00 onion — large, chopped
6.00 garlic — cloves, crushed
50.00 ml curry powder — medium
1.00 tomato purée
250.00 ml stock — beef
150.00 g peas — fresh or frozen
4.00 potatoes — peeled
50.00 ml butter
100.00 ml cream

Method:

1. Heat the oil in a saucepan and sauté the mince and the onion until browned. Add the garlic and then the curry powder. Cook for three minutes, then add the tomato purée and the gravy. Stir well and add the peas. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes.

2. While the mince is cooking, prepare the potatoes. Cut the potatoes into 3cm cubes. Boil in a little salted water for 20 minutes until tender, then drain and mash. Mix in the butter and cream.

3. Spoon the meat into a greased 5cm-deep dish and top with the mashed potatoes. Bake in a preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes.
