Ingredients (15)

1.00 onion — coarsely chopped
60.00 ml oil
500.00 g lamb — chopped
1.00 aubergine — cubed
3.00 tomatoes — skinned and sliced
90.00 g green lentils — washed
1.00 lemon juice
2.00 ml ginger — ground
5.00 ml cinnamon — ground
2.00 ml allspice
2.00 ml nutmeg — grated
1.00 ml turmeric
salt
black pepper — freshly ground
250.00 g mixed dried fruit

Method:

Sauté the onion in oil, then add the meat and brinjal and fry, stirring, until they brown.
Add the remaining ingredients and water to just cover.
Simmer gently with the lid on for 1 to 2 hours until the meat is very tender.
Serve with basmati rice cooked with cardamom pods.
