Hendrik's steak

  • 6
    fillet steak, thickly sliced
  • oil
  • 1
    onion, finely chopped
  • 6
    baby carrots, sliced
  • 250
    fresh mushrooms, chopped (reserve a few whole for garnishing)
  • 200
    sour cream or natural yoghurt
  • salt
  • pepper
  • paprika
  • straw potatoes (see recipe)


Brush the fillet slices (2,5 cm thick) with a little oil and grill until done to taste. The fillet slices can also be fried in a pan. Transfer to a serving platter. Sauté the onion, carrot and chopped mushrooms in a little oil until soft. Add the sour cream and season to taste with salt and pepper. Heat the sauce well but do not bring to he boil. Pour the sauce over the fillet slices and arrange the remaining mushrooms on top. Sprinkle with a little paprika. Serve with straw potatoes. Serves 6.
