Ingredients (16)

170.00 g raisins — seedless
170.00 g sultanas
170.00 g currants
230.00 g apples — dried
230.00 g apricots — dried
250.00 ml jam — blackberry
7.00 ml cinnamon — ground
2.00 ml salt
2.00 ml nutmeg — grated
2.00 ml allspice — ground
2.00 ml freshly ground black pepper
500.00 ml rum — or brandy
500.00 ml cider
230.00 g brown sugar — soft dark
110.00 g butter — unsalted
75.00 ml black treacle

Method:

Put dried fruit on a large board and just work over a few times with a large knife (this helps to make it stick together).
Mix in a large bowl with jam, spices and seasoning.
Heat last five ingredients in a saucepan until butter melts, pour it over fruit and mix well.
When cool, cover bowl and leave for a few days to mature, stirring occasionally. Mix well and bottle.
It seems to keep pretty well indefinitely, which is hardly surprising considering all the alcohol!
