Figs in wine and honey

  • 1
    plump, fresh black or green figs
  • fruity dry white wine to cover
  • 200
    runny honey


Place figs in a saucepan with just enough wine to cover. Bring to boil, gently stir in honey, reduce heat and simmer until tender but not mushy. Remove figs with a slotted spoon and boil juice, uncovered, over high heat to reduce and thicken. Taste, and add a little more honey if not sweet enough for your taste. Pour over figs. Serve chilled with whipped cream or mascarpone cheese. TOTAL KILOJOULE COUNT: 9 520 kJ (2 275 Cal). A portion: 1 190 kJ (285 Cal).
