Cabbage stir-fry

  • 125
    bacon, cut into pieces
  • 1
    onion, coarsely chopped
  • oil
  • 4
    potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 2
    carrots, scraped and diced or thinly sliced
  • 1
    head cabbage, shredded
  • nutmeg
  • salt and black pepper to taste
  • parsley if desired


Fry the bacon until done. Add the onion and sauté in the pan fat until soft. Add oil if necessary. Stir-fry the potato, carrot and cabbage in the oil in the pan until glossy. Add a little water or chicken stock and simmer until the vegetables are just soft but still slightly crisp. Season with a pinch of nutmeg and salt and pepper to taste. Sprinkle with a little parsley if desired. Serve with rice. Serves 4.
