Foodie ideas for Valentine’s Day

12 Feb 2015

If someone was playing 30 Seconds with me, they would only need to utter 2 words for me to guess “Valentine’s Day” – chocolate hearts!

Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day? Whether you’re a lover or hater, it’s practically an excuse to go overboard if you wanted to! Think Cam from Modern Family kind of overboard...

Don’t have a significant other? There are loads of places that are having an anti-Valentine’s Day evening – allowing only singles to attend. But if you’re like me, you’ll take the opportunity to treat yourself to that gorgeous piece of cookware you’ve had your eye on. Gifts to oneself are the best!

Next question: are you going out on V-Day or staying in? Our Restaurant Ed has gathered some fantastic options for Valentine’s Day in Joburg, as well as 14 suggestions for Valentine’s Day in Cape Town and surrounds. Spot of wine tasting? I think so! Bring on the bubbles. If you are on the hunt for some great deals, head to our specials page or browse the events section – there’s bound to be something fun and fabulous happening in your hood.

Want to stay away from crowds and mawkish couples? We suggest you hang out at home and prepare one of these 12 aphrodisiac foods to heat things, er… up. Or if you both have a sweet tooth – these 10 romantic sweet treats for lovers will leave you both on a sugary cloud of happiness. Actually - any of our chocolate recipes will do the trick!

Speaking of sugar (and happiness), are there any Lindt fans in the house? We are running a fun competition where you stand to WIN a whole hamper of the stuff! To find out how to enter, click here immediately.

I’m off to find an ice bath to make this magical 2 ingredient chocolate mousse

if you are whipping up fun creations in the kitchen this weekend, be sure to Instagram them and tag us with #Food24_sa. Your pic will appear on the Food24 website for all to see. Why? because we ♥ you, all our lovely readers!
