Surf's up!! Eskom saver

Cooking time: 50 to 60 minutes


  • 2 cans Lucky Star Chilli or tomato sardines
  • 1 small pack baby potatoes
  • 3 whole garlic cloves
  • Extra chilli-optional
  • 30 ml lemon juice or 2 fresh lemons
  • 1 green pepper
  • Seasonal veg


Summer times are here so when you are at the beach (choose a desolate area) dig a hole in the sand about 1 foot deep and 1 foot sq.
Place previously prepared hot coals in the hole ,wrap all ingredients twice neatly in heavyweight foil ,close the hole with remaining sand and leave for about 50-60 min. Play some beach volleyball in the meantime. Voila!!
A healthy summer meal made by nature! Not even Eskom's hikes can hit your pocket here.
