Whisky beef with pecans

    g
    tenderised steaks
  • 60
    ml
    flour seasoned with salt and pepper
  • 15
    ml
    olive oil
  • 25
    ml
    butter
  • 2
    garlic cloves, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 250
    g
    shallots or small pickling onions, peeled
  • 2
    bay leaves
  • 200
    g
    rindless bacon, chopped
  • 60
    ml
    whisky
  • 100
    g
    pecan nuts, coarsely chopped
  • 45
    ml
    chopped fresh parsley
 

Method

 
Coat steaks in seasoned flour. Heat oil and half the butter in a large frying pan and fry steaks quickly on both sides to seal in juices. Add rest of butter, garlic, shallots, bay leaves and bacon and stir-fry until lightly browned. Stir in whisky, chopped pecan nuts and parsley and warm through. Serve with roasted baby leeks.
