Tiramisu cake

    instant Nescafé coffee granules

    milk chocolate, grated

    coffee liqueur
  • TOPPING

    mascarpone cheese

    icing sugar, sieved

    cream
  • 5
    ml
    vanilla essence
  • 1
    chocolate flake
  • 15
    ml
    cocoa powder
 

Method

45 minutes
 
Beat the butter and castor sugar until light. Add the flour, baking powder, eggs and coffee granules (dissolved in 10 ml hot water). Beat mixture well for one minute until smooth. Fold in the chocolate. Pour the mixture into a greased and lined 22 cm springform cake tin. Bake in a preheated 170 °C oven for 45 minutes until firm to the touch. Turn out onto a wire rack to cool. When completely cool, make several holes in the top of the cake with a skewer and drizzle over the coffee liqueur. Leave for at least 15 minutes before adding topping, or wrap in cling film until needed. TOPPING: Beat mascarpone, icing sugar, cream and vanilla essence together until smooth. Spread over the cake. Break the flake into short, thin pieces and arrange around edges, then dust with cocoa powder.
