    self-raising flour
  • 20
    g
    castor sugar
  • pinch salt
  • 1
    egg, beaten
  • 125
    ml
    milk
  • oil for frying
  • extra castor sugar
 

Method

 
Sift the dry ingredients together and add the egg and milk. Blend well to form a smooth batter. Heat the oil in a saucepan and drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil. Remove from the oil with a slotted spoon when golden brown and cooked inside. Roll in the castor sugar while still hot. Drain on kitchen towelling. Makes about 10 doughnuts.
