Spicy rice meatballs

Ingredients

    onion, finely chopped
  • 1
    large egg
  • 250
    ml
    uncooked rice
  • 10
    ml
    curry powder
  • 2
    ml
    turmeric
  • 5
    ml
    ground coriander
  • 5
    ml
    salt
  • 30
    ml
    chutney
  • 30
    ml
    vinegar
  • 15
    ml
    fresh ginger, grated
  • 1
    kg
    extra-lean minced beef
  • 750
    ml
    hot water
  • 1
    packet tomato soup powder
 

Method

1 to 1 1/2 hours
 
Mix all the ingredients except the water and soup powder.
Shape into 24 balls and pack them into a greased, ovenproof baking dish.
Add the water, sprinkle the soup powder on top and cover the dish with aluminium foil.
Bake in a preheated 160 °C oven for one to 1 ½ hours, or until the rice is soft.
