Savoury white sauce

Ingredients

  • 30
    ml
    butter
  • 30
    ml
    cake flour
  • 200
    ml
    milk
  • 200
    ml
    chicken stock
  • black pepper to taste
 

Method

 
Melt the butter in a saucepan. Add the cake flour and stir to form a smooth paste. Remove the saucepan from the heat and slowly add the milk and chicken stock. Stir continuously. Return the saucepan to the heat, stirring until the sauce comes to the boil and thickens. Pour sauce over hamburger patties (see recipe). Serves 6.
