Sausage rolls

    oil
  • 600
    g
    topside mince
  • 1
    onion, finely chopped
  • 3
    slices white bread, soaked in water
  • 5
    ml
    salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1
    ml
    ground cloves
  • 1
    ml
    ground coriander
  • 1
    beef stock cube
  • 20
    ml
    vinegar
  • 2
    sheets frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1
    egg yolk, lightly beaten
 

Method

 
Preheat oven to 200 °C.
Heat oil and fry mince until brown.
Add onion and sauté slightly.
Add soaked bread, seasoning, spices, stock cube and vinegar.
Simmer for about 5 minutes, then leave to cool completely.
Roll out pastry into a rectangular shape about 10 cm wide.
Place meat in a line down the middle.
Fold one side of pastry over meat.
Brush edge with water and cover with second side of pastry.
Brush with beaten egg or milk.
Cut into sections of about 4 cm and bake for 20 minutes, or until crisp and golden.
