Sangria

Ingredients

    g
    castor sugar
  • 125
    ml
    port
  • the rind of one orange cut into strips
  • 6
    cloves
  • 2
    sticks cinnamon
  • 750
    ml
    orange juice
  • 750
    ml
    dry red wine
  • 125
    ml
    brandy
  • 1
    Litres
    lemonade
  • 1
    orange, quartered and sliced
  • 1
    lime, thinly sliced
  • 1
    red apple, quartered, cored and sliced
 

Method

8 to 10 minutes
 
Combine the sugar, port, orange rind, spices and juice in a saucepan.
Heat over a low to medium heat until sugar has dissolved, then simmer for five minutes.
Remove from the heat and cool.
Add alcohol, lemonade, orange and lime and refrigerate overnight or for at least three hours.
Add the apple just before serving.
Makes 3,5 litres.
