    Litres
    water
  • 500
    ml
    cooked rice
  • 5
    ml
    salt
  • 450
    ml
    maize meal
  • 65
    ml
    butter or margarine
 

Method

 
Bring the water, rice and salt to the boil. Simmer slowly and gradually stir in the maize meal to form a slack porridge. Simmer slowly for 20 minutes over low heat until cooked and done. Stir in the butter or margarine and serve hot with pan-fried sausage and a tomato sauce. Serves 5-6.
