    large onions, sliced into rings

    allspice seeds
  • 2

    cloves
  • 2
    ml
    peppercorns
  • 3
    cinnamon sticks
  • 3
    cloves garlic, crushed
  • 25

    oil
  • 1
    kg
    mutton, cut into pieces
  • 3
    kg
    ripe pumpkin, cut into pieces
  • 1
    green chilli, chopped
  • 5
    ml
    nutmeg
  • 50
    ml
    fresh parsley, chopped
  • Sugar
  • Salt
  • Pepper

In a large saucepan, fry the onion, allspice, cloves, peppercorns, cinnamon and garlic in the oil until the onions are soft.

Add the meat and simmer for about 20 minutes until it is half-cooked.

Add the pumpkin, chilli, nutmeg and half the parsley, and simmer until the pumpkin is soft and most of the liquid has evaporated.

Season to taste with sugar, salt and pepper.

Sprinkle remaining parsley on top.

Serve with rice.
