Mince bake

    slices white bread, crusts removed
  • 50
    ml
    butter
  • 20
    ml
    Marmite
  • 1
    tin fresh button mushrooms
  • 2
    large tomatoes, sliced
  • 1
    green pepper, sliced into rings
  • 500
    ml
    cooked seasoned mince
  • 150
    ml
    grated Cheddar cheese
  • 4
    large eggs
  • 600
    ml
    milk
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 5
    ml
    mustard powder
 

Method

30 min
 
Set oven to ° 180C.
Spread the bread with the butter and Marmite.
Cut into cubes and arrange half of the cubes over the base of a greased ovenproof dish.
Add the mushrooms to the cooked mince then top with half the tomatoes, green pepper, mince and cheese.
Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.
Beat the eggs, milk, salt, pepper and mustard powder together.
Pour over ingredients in the ovenproof dish.
Allow milk mixture to soak in for 15 minutes, then bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes or until set.
