Mealie meal and mincemeat casserole

    tomato sauce

    tomato, sliced

Method

 
Preheat the oven to 180 ºC (350 ºF). Grease an ovenproof dish. Blend the mealie meal, water and salt together and boil till the porridge is cooked. Stir occasionally. Sauté the onion and green pepper in the heated oil till soft. Add the mince and fry till done, but not browned. Season with the braai spice and salt and pepper to taste. Add the tomato sauce and mix. Mix the mince with the porridge and spoon into a prepared dish. Place the tomato slices on top, season lightly with salt and pepper. Beat the eggs and milk together and pour on top. Bake for about 30 minutes or till the egg mixture has set. Serve with a salad. Serves 4-6.
