    butter
  • 5
    ml
    Marmite
 

Method

 
Preheat the oven to 180 ºC (350 ºF). Grease 3 muffin trays with 12 hollows each, with butter or margarine or spray with non-stick spray. Sift the cake flour, baking powder, cayenne pepper and salt together. Using your fingertips, rub in the butter until well blended. Add the grated Cheddar cheese and mix well. Beat the egg and milk together. Add to the dry ingredients and blend gently until just mixed. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the prepared muffin tins and bake for about 15 minutes or until pale brown or a testing skewer comes out clean when inserted into the centre of each muffin. Blend the butter and Marmite and spread over each muffin while still hot. Cool slightly in the pans before turning out. Serve hot or cold.
