Lentil rice

    uncooked white rice
  • 65
    ml
    brown or red lentils
  • 1
    onion, finely chopped
  • 1
    clove garlic
  • oil
  • 1
    small red chilli, finely chopped
  • 5
    ml
    ground cumin (jeera)
  • 5
    ml
    ground cinnamon
  • 3
    whole cloves
 

Method

 
Cook rice and brown or red lentils separately and drain. Sauté onion and garlic in a little oil until soft. Add chilli, cumin, cinnamon and cloves to the onion mixture. Add the cooked lentils and rice and season with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Heat through and serve. Serves 4.
