Ham and pear topping

    short French loaf, halved lengthways

    broccoli, broken into florets (optional)

    ham, diced
  • 125
    g
    white cheese, grated
  • 1
    pear, cored and diced
  • 15
    ml
    freshly chopped herbs
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper
 

Method

 
Switch on the oven grill. Place the halved French loaf on a baking sheet and spread with walnut butter (see recipe). Boil the broccoli in a little salted water until tender. Drain well. Add the ham, cheese and pear, mixing lightly. Season with the herbs, and salt and pepper to taste. Spoon the filling on both halves of the loaf and grill for a few minutes until the cheese has melted. Serve hot, preferably immediately. Serves 4.
