Garlic cheese bread

Ingredients 6
Servings 2

Serving Change
  • 1
    loaf of white bread
  • 125
  • 4
    cloves garlic, crushed
  • 75
    parsley, finely chopped
  • 1
    onion, finely chopped
  • 80
    grated Cheddar cheese

Preheat the oven to 180 ºC (350 ºF). Place a sheet of aluminium foil on each of two baking trays. Halve the loaf lengthwise and place one half on each baking tray. Slice each half into 1 cm thick slices without cutting all the way through, as you would with a French loaf. Mix the butter with the garlic and parsley and spread a little between each slice. Combine the onion and cheese and sprinkle over each loaf half. Wrap the aluminium foil around each loaf half and bake for about 20 minutes or until the cheese has melted and the bread is heated through. Serve next time you have a braai. Serves 8-10.
