    ml
    (you may need an extra 250 ml) cake flour
  • 15
    ml
    baking powder
  • pinch salt
  • 250
    ml
    oats
  • 250
    ml
    white sugar
  • 250
    ml
    coconut
  • 125
    ml
    glacé cherries
  • 250
    ml
    puffed rice cereal
  • 250
    ml
    chopped nuts
  • 250
    g
    butter
  • 250
    ml
    golden syrup
  • 1
    extra-large egg, whisked
 

Method

35 minutes
 
Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
Grease a 27 x 36 cm oven pan.
Sift together the dry ingredients.
Add the oats, sugar, coconut, glacé cherries, cereal and nuts and mix well.
Heat the butter and golden syrup until melted, cool slightly and add the egg.
Slowly add the butter mixture to the dry ingredients and mix.
Press the mixture into the prepared oven pan and bake for about 30 to 35 minutes or until golden brown and done.
Cut into squares and leave to cool in the pan before carefully removing.
Store in an airtight container.
