Easy jam puffs

  • 400
    g
    frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • water
  • 65
    ml
    sugar
  • 125
    ml
    jam or preserve
  • extra sugar for sprinkling
 

Method

 
Preheat oven to 200 ºC. Roll out pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface to remove creases. Brush pastry with water. Starting at one short edge, roll up pastry tightly. Cut pastry into 1,5 cm thick rounds. Place sugar on plate and press 1 round into sugar. Place round on baking sheet, sugar side up. Repeat with remaining pastry rounds. Make a small depression in centre of each round with your finger. Spoon 5 ml (1 tsp) jam or preserve into each hollow. Sprinkle pastries with additional sugar. Bake for about 25 minutes, or until golden. Cool on a wire cooling rack.
