Date and nut bars

    butter
  • 160
    g
    castor sugar
  • 1
    large egg
  • 160
    g
    coconut
  • 150
    g
    dates, chopped
  • 100
    g
    walnuts or almonds
  • 3
    ml
    rose water
  • 300
    g
    cake flour
  • 10
    ml
    baking powder
 

Method

15 minutes
 
Beat the butter and sugar until light. Add the egg and mix.
Add the coconut, dates, nuts and rose water and mix until combined.
Add sifted flour and baking powder and mix to form a soft dough.
Press dough into a greased rectangular baking pan. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 ºC for about 15 minutes, or until light brown.
Remove from the oven and cut into squares or bars while still hot.
