Crunchy oat and cheese biscuits

    quick-cooking oats
  • 125
    g
    cake flour
  • 60
    g
    Cheddar cheese, grated
  • 125
    g
    butter
  • 5
    ml
    salt
  • 5
    ml
    cayenne pepper
  • 1
    egg, beaten
 

Method

 
Preheat oven to 170 ºC. Place all ingredients in a large bowl and mix well. Add just enough water to bind mixture. Roll biscuit dough out fairly thinly on a lightly floured surface and cut out rounds 6 cm in diameter, using a biscuit cutter jor the rim of a glass. Place rounds on a greased baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes, or until firm and lightly browned. Cool biscuits on a wire rack and store in an airtight container.
