Chinese sesame vegetables

    ml
    sesame oil
  • 5
    ml
    canola or peanut oil
  • 1
    onion
  • 2
    cloves garlic
  • 1
    chilli
  • handful of green beans, carrot strips, baby corn, baby marrow
  • 15
    ml
    dry sherry
  • 30
    ml
    soy sauce
  • 5
    ml
    brown sugar
  • 5
    ml
    comflour
  • handful bean sprouts
  • toasted sesame seeds
 

Method

 
Heat oils in a large wok or frying pan. When hot, add onion, garlic and chilli.
Stir fry for a few seconds and add vegetables.
Cook vegetables over a high heat for a minute or two.
Meanwhile mix sherry, soy, sugar and comflour together.
Add liquid and cook until vegetables are just done - they should remain quite crunchy and firm.
Stir in bean sprouts and sesame seeds.
Serve immediately as a side dish or with rice or noodles as a main course.
