Chicken with spaghetti

    rashers bacon, chopped
  • 1
    large onion, sliced
  • 1
    green pepper, seeded and diced
  • 200

    fresh button mushrooms, sliced
  • 410

    tomato purée
  • 250
    ml
    dry red wine
  • 30
    ml
    Worcestershire sauce
  • pinch ground cloves
  • 5
    ml
    allspice
  • pinch nutmeg
  • 10
    ml
    paprika
  • 15
    ml
    sugar
  • salt and black pepper
  • 1
    kg
    cooked chicken, deboned and cut into pieces
  • 500
    g
    spaghetti, boiled until soft
  • Cheddar cheese for sprinkling (optional)
 

Method

30-45 min
 
Fry the bacon until done, add the onion, green pepper and mushrooms and sauté until soft. Add the tomato purée, red wine and seasonings and simmer to form a flavoursome sauce. Add the chicken and simmer until heated through. Serve the spaghetti, chicken and Cheddar cheese separately. Serves 6.
