    oil
  • 1
    onion
  • 2
    cloves garlic
  • 1
    kg
    mutton or beef mince
  • 1
    thick slice white bread, broken into small pieces
  • 60
    ml
    vinegar
  • 15
    ml
    curry powder
  • 7
    ml
    turmeric
  • 6
    bay leaves
  • 2
    hard-boiled eggs, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 125
    ml
    milk
  • 3
    large eggs
 

Method

1 hour
 
Heat oil in a large saucepan. Sauté onion and garlic for one minute, then add mince and cook stirring, until browned.
Add bread, vinegar, curry powder, 5 ml turmeric, two bay leaves and salt and pepper, to taste.
Cook for five minutes, then stir in hard-boiled eggs and spoon into greased ovenproof dish.
Cook in preheated 180 ºC oven for 10 minutes, then remove from oven.
Mix the milk, eggs and remaining turmeric together and pour over hot mince mixture.
Garnish with remaining bay leaves, return to oven and bake for a further 30 to 40 minutes until golden brown.
