Baked meat patties

    slice bread

    ml
    strong beef stock
  • 500
    g
    lean beef mince
  • 125
    g
    streaky bacon, finely chopped
  • 1
    egg
  • 5
    ml
    sugar
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 5
    ml
    mild curry powder
  • 10
    ml
    tomato sauce
  • 5
    ml
    Worcestershire sauce
  • 1
    onion, grated or finely chopped
  • 45
    ml
    chopped fresh parsley
  • flour for coating
  • 30
    g
    butter
 

Method

1 hour
 
1. Soak the bread in 125 ml beef stock. Break up the bread with a fork. 2. Mix with the mince, bacon, egg, sugar, seasoning, curry powder, tomato and Worcestershire sauce, onion and parsley. Knead until very smooth. 3. Shape into 8 patties and roll each in a little flour. 4. Pack the patties tightly in a greased ovenproof dish and pour in the remaining 60 ml beef stock. 5. Dot each patty with butter and bake in a preheated oven at 180 ºC for 1 hour, basting from time to time and adding more boiling water if necessary.
