Anchovy slices

    g
    defrosted puff pastry
  • 125
    g
    anchovy paste
  • 1
    egg yolk
 

Method

Preheat the oven to 200 ºC (400 ºF).
Spray a baking sheet with nonstick spray.
Roll out the pastry into a slightly thinner rectangle about 50 cm long.
Mark the centre line of the rectangle with a knife, but do not cut all the way through.
Spread the pastry with anchovy paste and fold in the 2 short sides of the pastry so they meet in the centre.
Flatten the pastry with your fingertips and spread with more anchovy paste.
Repeat twice more, pressing the 2 folded sides firmly together at the centre line.
Wrap in cling film and chill for at least 10 minutes.
Cut into 5 mm thick slices and place on the baking sheet.
Brush with egg yolk and bake for 15 minutes or until done and golden brown.
