Smokey spaghetti

    olive oil
  • 1
    large onion, sliced
  • 2
    garlic cloves, crushed
  • 250

    diced bacon
  • 6
    cheese grillers, sliced
  • 250

    Greek yoghurt
  • 250
    g
    cream cheese, roast onion flavour
  • 5
    ml
    cornflour, mixed with a little water
  • salt and freshly ground pepper
  • 250
    ml
    frozen garden peas
  • 500
    g
    spaghetti, cooked
 

Method

1. Heat the oil in a large saucepan and fry the onion until golden brown. Add the garlic and diced bacon and fry until the bacon is cooked and crisp.

2. Add the cheese grillers and stir-fry until browned.

3. Reduce the heat and add the yoghurt, cream cheese and cornflour mixture. Stir until thickened, season with salt and pepper and add the peas. Simmer for a minute or two.

4. Serve with the cooked spaghetti. Feed a crowd with one packet of pasta – the secret lies in a well-flavoured sauce


TIP: Boost the smoky flavour by adding 5 ml (1 t) smoked paprika to the yoghurt.
