This is not a drill. Attention all Chuckles lovers in South Africa! Local retail giant Woolworths has officially launched an ice cream range dedicated to the much-loved sweet treat.
Launched on 8 November, the current Chuckles Malt Ice Cream range includes a 2-litre Malt Dairy Ice Cream tub and a box of 6 Mini Malt Crunch solos.
In an exclusive interview with Food24, Woolworths explains what led to the creation of the iconic Chuckles-inspired ice cream range.
“Chuckles is an Iconic product at Woolworths, anyone and everyone knows the product and loves it. Naturally, we wanted to offer an indulgent curated offer across categories. Our aim is to develop innovative Chuckles products that are inspired by shareable moments of joy, and ice cream is definitely one of them.”
The Malt Dairy Ice Cream 2-litre tubs retail for R89.99 and the box of Mini Malt Crunch solos will set you back R86.99. The tubs are made with ice cream using cow’s milk, butter and malt extract, embedded with uncoated malted puff pieces and chocolate chips, while the mini crunch solos feature the same ice cream covered in milk chocolate and crisp malt meringue pieces.
While we are all on the edge of our seats wanting to find out what the additional Chuckle ranges will include, Woolworths assures us that it will definitely be a frozen product.
Taking to social media to share the launch of the new product, Woolworths posted the below with the caption: “Did we just fix 2021?” Throughout the year of difficulties, this is certainly a sweet way to end it.

As it comes as no surprise, the range has been well-received already by Woolies shoppers across the country.
“We expected the Chuckles ice cream to have a following but did not expect it to happen immediately with the launch. We have daily tweets and Instagram posts coming through from customers on their love for the product.”
