Spicy sausage rolls

    puff pastry

    chicken sausages
  • 1
    onion, chopped
  • 60
    mango atchar, chopped

    grated mature Cheddar cheese

    large egg, beaten

    mustard seeds

Preheat oven to 200 ºC. Unroll pastry and cut into 15 cm wide strips. Squeeze meat out of sausage skins into a bowl. Mix in onion and atchar. Divide filling between pieces of pastry and form into sausage shapes, the length of the pastry. Place filling on 1 side of each piece of pastry. Top with grated cheese. Brush edges of pastry with egg. Fold pastry over and press sides down to enclose filling. Brush top with egg. Cut each pastry roll into 12 cm pieces, sprinkle with mustard seeds and place on a greased baking tray. Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes until crisp. Cool a little before serving. Makes 8 rolls. To freeze: Cool completely, pack into plastic containers and seal well. Freeze until needed. Heat from frozen at 180 ºC for 20 minutes until hot and well browned.
