Orange and nut pastries

    phyllo pastry sheets

    melted butter
  • 100
    peanuts, chopped
  • 15
    orange rind, grated
  • 30
    icing sugar
  • 2
    ground cinnamon
  • 50
    dates, chopped
  • 1
    large egg yolk
  • honey, to serve

1. Brush half the sheets of pastry with melted butter. Cover each sheet with the remaining sheets of pastry. Keep sheets covered with a damp cloth while you prepare the filling. 2. Mix the peanuts, rind, icing sugar, cinnamon, dates and 50 ml melted butter to make the filling. 3. Cut each pastry sheet into strips 5 cm wide and 20 cm long. 4. Mix egg yolk and 20 ml water together. 5. Place a teaspoon of filling on the bottom of a pastry strip. Fold over, then over again to form a triangle shape. Brush the end with egg mixture and seal. 6. Place triangles on a greased baking tray, brush with butter and bake in a preheated 180 ºC oven for 20 minutes until golden. 7. Drizzle with honey and serve.
