Dutch pancakes

Plate sized pancakes filled with just about anything.

15 Apr 2010

Dutch pancakes (pannekoeken) are bigger larger and thinner than American or Scottish pancakes and are filled with a host of things.

In the Netherlands they’re available at all Pannekoekenhuise.

They’re huge, at least the size of the plate and are filled with just about anything - strawberries, crispy bacon (Spekpannekoek), syrup (Strooppannekoek) made with golden syrup and apples (Appelpannekoek), where the apple and lemon juice is cooked with the pancake, and then ginger (Gemberpannekoek) made with preserved ginger.

We include a really basic recipe and you can do the rest.
